The game:
This ain’t Louisiana flooded timber. The opposite, in fact. We hunt big water. Sometimes hundreds of yards out into the sound. We hunt big spreads: rows of decoys on commercial long lines, and bulked-up decoy rafts. The birds are faster, meaner, and harder to pin. They can seemingly deflect scattered steel and fly away unscathed.
Migratory sea ducks: oldsquaw, white-winged scoter, black scoter, Atlantic brant,
Migratory diving ducks: broadbill (scaup), goldeneye, bufflehead.
All of these birds offer unique, fast paced shooting. We will hunt whichever bird is most abundant at the time. Because they are migrating, the type and number fluctuate.
A general hunt will be to set up in the morning before sunrise ( either before clients show up or with them) and hunt until the birds stop working. Then, the clients will be dropped off back at the dock, before the guides return to collect decoys.
